She also has a minor in Spanish and is fluent in that language along with English and her native language, Portuguese. I liked the the size of the school and I wanted to swim at a Division II school. "They said we need someone to swim the 200 fly and that was my main event. She went through an agency to find an American college to go to at the time, MSUM was in need of someone to swim the 200 butterfly. Speaking of meeting new people, that is exactly what she did coming to MSUM. "Going to meets was so much fun for me - not the competitive part, but meeting new people." "I made a lot of new friends," Esteves Rodovalho said. While she enjoyed competing, there was another aspect that drew her to swimming. "I tried competitive swimming," Esteves Rodovalho said, "and I never stopped." She was noticed her for talent and soon began swimming competitively for a club. Her start in swimming came when her aunt put in a pool, and as a result she began taking swimming lessons. The senior has swam for 16 years, 14 of those competitively. "I've been doing this for 16 years," Esteves Rodovalho said. She is one of eight Dragons who will be swimming in their final home meet on Saturday when the host Mary, Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State, Mankato in a quad (starting at 1 p.m.) (Her teammates) took a video of me running into the snow."įour years later, she's adapted to American weather and culture and this spring, will graduate with a bachelor's degree in accounting at MSUM.
